On January 24, in Minneapolis, federal immigration officers shot and killed Alex Jeffrey Pretti, a 37-year-old U.S. citizen, during an enforcement action in a community space. This follows the recent death of Renée Good and another federal shooting that injured a local resident—revealing a troubling pattern of federal violence carried out in our communities.

When federal agents use lethal force and then control the narrative instead of providing transparency, trust is broken and justice is delayed. Families are left grieving without answers, and constitutional rights are placed at risk.

Congress must act now.
