Since 2011, LIVE FREE has been working with faith leaders and those directly impacted by gun violence to implement effective community violence intervention efforts in cities throughout the country. Pre-pandemic, many of these cities had significant violence reductions, including Oakland, CA, our first city, which cut shootings and homicides in half.

LIVE FREE works to end the mass incarceration and criminalization of Black and Brown people by leading and supporting local, state, and national efforts to dismantle and replace the current criminal justice system, training and cultivating the leadership of formerly incarcerated leaders, and shifting the national narrative regarding what justice can and should look like in our country.

LIVE FREE is dedicated to amplifying the narratives and perspectives of individuals often marginalized or misrepresented by the media. We believe that cultural authenticity emerges from the voices closest to the experience. Through close collaboration with our storytelling partners, we aim to uplift the voices of those directly impacted by violence and incarceration.
