Join LIVE FREE USA and Co-Presenters Google and the Love Not Blood Campaign on Saturday, June 17th at 12:00 p.m. PST for part two of our ongoing “Archaeology of Silence” Speaker series.

Held at the de Young Museum in San Francisco, this second installment, “A Father’s Heart,” will bring together Black men who have lost their children to state violence and spotlight their national efforts to support the healing of other fathers and loved ones experiencing similar trauma. See our esteemed speakers confirmed for the event:

  • Andrew Joseph Jr., father of Andrew Joseph III
    • Cephus “Uncle Bobby” Johnson, uncle of Oscar Grant
    • Arbuey Wright, father of Daunte Wright
    • Kevin Tarver, father of Darius Tarver
  • Pastor Michael McBride, Executive Director of LIVE FREE USA (moderating)

Launched in May 2023 and inspired by acclaimed artist Kehinde Wiley’s new exhibit, the “Archaeology of Silence” Speaker Series creates a platform that nurtures thought-provoking discussions and facilitates an exploration of the interconnectedness between art, the experience of suffering, and the journey of healing. Each event features a public tour of Wiley’s hauntingly beautiful exhibit that is then brought to life through insightful panel discussions with people directly impacted by gun and systemic violence. The series also weaves in musical performances and healing activities to engage both in-person and remote audiences.
