Marcel Woodruff, an organizer with Faith in the Valley, spoke to the Fresno Bee about a recent analysis of police department data conducted by the newspaper from the first half of 2020. The findings showed that not only are Black drivers in Fresno stopped by police around twice the rate of white and Hispanic drivers, but also that Black drivers were also searched, arrested, and handcuffed more often than other races. “As a Black male driving in Fresno, when you see a police officer, there’s always the fear they’re going to pull you over,” said Woodruff. “These numbers give voice to a feeling a lot of us hold.” Click here to read more.
