During Memorial Day Weekend, the United States was plagued by a distressing wave of gun violence, marked by a staggering count of at least 20 mass shootings. Tragically, these incidents resulted in the loss of 16 lives and left over 80 individuals wounded.

This wave of bloodshed commenced in Arizona, as a 20-year-old man was accused of perpetrating five separate shootings in the Phoenix area, resulting in the deaths of four people and the injury of another.

As the weekend progressed, acts of violence unfolded in Virginia, Mississippi, New Mexico, Illinois, and various other locations, claiming more lives and causing further injuries. The unsettling events reached their peak on Monday evening when nine individuals were wounded by gunfire along a boardwalk in Hollywood Beach, Florida, while celebrating Memorial Day.

These incidents paint a grim picture of the persistent issue of gun violence in the United States, underscoring the urgent need for comprehensive efforts to address and prevent such tragedies.
