A mass shooting occurred at a bank in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, on Monday, where four people were killed and at least eight were injured before the shooter was killed on the spot, as per Louisville Metro Police Deputy Chief Paul Humphrey. The shooter appears to be a former employee of the bank. The incident happened around 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Old National Bank on East Main Street, with officers responding within three minutes of being dispatched. The suspect was found still firing shots, and an exchange of gunfire took place, leading to the suspect’s death. It is unclear whether he was killed by the officers or died of a self-inflicted gunshot. The identities of the victims have not been released yet. Two officers were among the injured and were being treated at the hospital. One of the officers is in critical condition. A large police presence was observed in the area, and shattered glass at the entrance of the Old National Bank was seen. The police are continuing the investigation to find out more details about the incident. Mayor Craig Greenberg praised the first responders for their brave and heroic actions, stating that their actions had saved lives.
